..RAINFALL RECORDS SET AT PHILADELPHIA  
  
A TOTAL OF 8.02 INCHES OF RAIN FELL AT THE PHILADELPHIA   
INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ON SUNDAY. THE AMOUNT ESTABLISHED A NEW RECORD   
DAILY MAXIMUM RAINFALL FOR THE DATE. THE PREVIOUS RECORD AT   
PHILADELPHIA FOR JULY 28 WAS 3.28 INCHES SET IN 1969.  
  
THE TOTAL OF 8.02 INCHES IS ALSO THE MOST RAINFALL ON RECORD FOR ANY   
CALENDAR DAY AT PHILADELPHIA. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS SET ON   
SEPTEMBER 16, 1999 DURING TROPICAL STORM FLOYD AND THAT AMOUNT WAS   
6.63 INCHES.  
  
SUNDAY'S RAINFALL HAS ALSO BROUGHT THE TOTAL FOR JULY TO 13 INCHES   
EVEN, BREAKING THE RECORD FOR THE MONTH. THE PREVIOUS RECORD   
RAINFALL FOR THE MONTH OF JULY AT PHILADELPHIA WAS 10.42 INCHES SET   
IN 1994.
