CLOUDY SKIES AND A CHANCE FOR PRECIPITATION ARE IN STORE TODAY AS A COLD FRONT SLOWLY APPROACHES FROM THE WEST. THE CHANCES FOR PRECIPITATION WILL INCREASE THROUGH THE DAY. A SOUTHERLY FLOW AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT WILL MEAN ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR, RANGING FROM THE MIDDLE TO UPPER 40S. HIGHS AROUND 50 ARE POSSIBLE, MAINLY FOR THE NEW YORK CITY METRO AREA. THIS WILL MEAN MOST OF THE PRECIPITATION WILL BE IN THE FORM OF RAIN EVERYWHERE, EXCEPT PERHAPS A VERY BRIEF PERIOD OF WINTRY MIX WELL INLAND EARLY THIS MORNING. ANY PRECIPITATION WILL BE ON THE LIGHT SIDE TODAY. THE RAIN WILL BECOME STEADIER AND HEAVIER TONIGHT AS THE COLD FRONT STALLS NEAR THE REGION, AND WAVES OF LOW PRESSURE RIDE ALONG THE BOUNDARY. THE RAIN WILL COME DOWN HEAVY AT TIMES, MAINLY LATE TONIGHT. MINOR URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOODING IS A POSSIBILITY. MODERATE RAIN SUNDAY WILL TRANSITION TO LIGHT RAIN AND TAPER OFF SUNDAY NIGHT AS THE COLD FRONT SLOWLY MOVES THROUGH. THE FRONT WILL PUSH OFFSHORE BY MONDAY MORNING, WITH HIGH PRESSURE BUILDING IN BEHIND IT. SOME LINGERING SHOWERS ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS LONG ISLAND AND SOUTHEAST CONNECTICUT, BUT DRY CONDITIONS WILL RETURN EVERYWHERE MONDAY AFTERNOON. 1 TO 2 INCHES WILL FALL BY MONDAY MORNING, WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS OF 2.5 TO 3 INCHES POSSIBLE.
